Privacy & Cookies

The short version: this site runs one analytics tool, only after you say yes, and never stores anything that identifies you personally.

Who runs this site

This site is run by Thomas Nys (Fractional Data Architect), the data controller for anything described here:

  • Registered address: Veldstraat 77/A, 9220 Hamme (Vl.), Belgium
  • Enterprise / VAT number: BE 0726.835.549

What I collect

One thing: Google Analytics 4 (GA4), and only after you accept the cookie banner. It tells me which pages and guides get read, so I write more of what’s useful and drop what isn’t. IP addresses are anonymised, and I don’t run advertising, remarketing, or cross-site tracking.

If you reject the banner, no analytics cookies are set and nothing is sent to Google.

I don’t collect names, emails, or accounts on this site. There’s no login, no newsletter signup, no contact form.

Cookies

Set only after you accept:

CookieSet byPurposeRetention
_gaGoogle AnalyticsDistinguishes one visitor from another (anonymous ID)2 years
_ga_<id>Google AnalyticsKeeps session state for GA42 years

Necessary, always-on cookies: only the small record of your own consent choice, stored in your browser so the banner doesn’t nag you on every page. That’s it.

Analytics cookies run on your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)): denied by default until you accept, via Google Consent Mode. You can withdraw consent any time (see below); withdrawing clears the _ga cookies.

How long data is kept

GA4 data is retained on Google’s side per their analytics retention settings (currently the standard window). The cookies themselves expire as listed above, or sooner if you clear them or reject consent.

Booking a call

The “Book a discovery call” buttons open a Cal.com scheduler. When you actually open it, Cal.com sets its own cookies and processes what you enter to book the meeting, covered by Cal.com’s own privacy policy. Until you open it, nothing loads.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct, or delete your data, object to processing, or request portability. Since this site holds nothing that identifies you, there’s usually little to act on. But email [email protected] and I’ll handle it. You can also lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be).

Changing your choice

Use Cookie settings in the footer to reopen the banner and accept or reject analytics whenever you like.
