The Reporting Lag That Signals Outgrowth

Ask whoever builds your monthly report to list every manual step. The list is your platform gap.
I usually hear it as a throwaway line. “The monthly report? That’s the first three days of the month for someone in finance.” Everyone nods. It’s been that way for a year.
Three days means the numbers aren’t in one place. Someone exports from the CRM, pulls billing from Stripe, pastes both into a spreadsheet and reconciles by hand. Every month, the same manual joins, the same judgment calls about which number is right.
At Easyfairs we took reporting from days to hours by building one source of truth underneath it. The dashboards were the easy part. Agreeing on what revenue meant across the business took longer.
Back to that list of manual steps. Anything that’s copy, paste, or “I just know to exclude those” is a gap in the platform.
A short list fits in a sprint. Once it runs to a page, and it usually does, I scope it as platform work.
Send me the list of manual steps and I’ll tell you which one I’d automate first.
